How to Choose the Right Business Consultant

A graduate of Washington State University, Jason Gesser holds a bachelor of arts in broadcast communications. In 2019, Jason Gesser opened Grit Consulting, a business consultancy that provides mentorship, networking, and strategy development to help clients improve business development and fundraising.

An effective business consultant can help an organization improve performance, but in order to be most effective the consultant must be a good fit for the company. Here are a few key tips when looking for a business consultant:

1. Clarify your goals. Are you looking for leadership coaching? Do you need help with strategic planning? Define your goals in order to get the most accurate results from a consultant.

2. Find a consultant with experience. A consultant who has worked with various companies has the ability to see patterns and help you avoid costly mistakes.

3. Ask questions to help you understand their approach. Some consultants rely on tried and true, scripted methodologies, while others take a more freestyle approach. Neither is necessarily better than the other, but you should choose the one that resonates most with your organization’s culture and goals.

Washington State Quarterback Sets School and Conference Records

As owner of Grit Consulting, Jason Gesser provides businesses and institutions with sports-focused business development services and has partnered with clients such as Phoenix Sports Partners, Atavus Football, and Oklahoma University. A former professional football player, Jason Gesser was a First-Team All-American quarterback at Washington State University (WSU). Since he graduated in 2002, WSU has continued to develop quarterbacks who have excelled at the collegiate level.

Four of the team's most recent quarterbacks, Connor Halliday, Luke Falk, Gardner Minshew II, and Anthony Gordon combine to hold all major Pac-12 passing records. While Falk holds all major career passing records, Gordon, the team's quarterback during the 2019 season, completed one of the most impressive individual seasons of all-time.

Gordon registered 606 yards passing and six touchdowns during the team's third-to-last game of the season against the Oregon State Beavers. This led to 4,920 yards and 45 touchdowns on the season, both of which were single-season Pac-12 records. Minshew held the previous passing yards record with 4,779. Gordon, a fifth-year senior who was a zero-star recruit out of high school and made only three pass attempts at WSU prior to this season, finished the year with 5,579 passing yards and 48 touchdowns.
